Sensex and Nifty Create Turmoil, But What Will be the Impact of US Inflation Data?
After a volatile session on Wednesday, Sensex and Nifty closed higher, while investors were eagerly awaiting the release of US inflation data. BSE Sensex gained 0.29% and settled at 61,940.20, while NSE Nifty was up 0.27% at 18,315.10. Select oil, banking, and auto shares experienced gains, with IndusInd Bank leading the way with a 2.84% increase. Infosys witnessed the highest fall, declining by 0.59%. Global markets traded negatively as investors remained cautious ahead of the release of US inflation data. BSE midcap gauge and smallcap index saw gains of 0.34% and 0.33%, respectively. Realty, oil & gas, auto, energy, and utilities were the top-performing sectors, while commodities, IT, telecommunications, metals, and technology were the laggards.
Zerodha Co-founder Nithin Kamath Tweets that the Company will not Terminate Employees due to AI Implementation
Nithin Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, has announced that the company will not terminate any employees due to the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI). Kamath clarified in a series of tweets that AI can bring disruption to society and amplify human agency and inequality. He believes that companies could potentially fire employees due to AI, which could contribute to the increase in wealth inequality. Kamath emphasized the importance for businesses to prioritize their employees and customers over the sole creation of shareholder value. He also acknowledged that it will take a few years for the real impact of AI to become apparent on humanity.
Relief for Adani Group: Mauritius Minister Denies Allegations of Shell Companies!
There is good news for the Adani Group as the Financial Services Minister of Mauritius has refuted the allegations of shell companies, calling them false and baseless. US short seller Hindenburg Research had accused Adani of manipulating the stock prices of its Indian-listed companies using shell companies. The Minister stated that their country's laws do not allow the existence of shell companies and that licensed global business companies, which meet substance requirements and are subject to strict monitoring by the Financial Services Commission, operate in Mauritius. This statement was made at a time when the Hindenburg-Adani issue was pending in India's Supreme Court.
"CBSE's New Offering: 33 New Subjects for Classes VI to VIII, Ranging from Financial Literacy to AI and Coding!"
CBSE has introduced 33 new subjects for classes VI to VIII, aiming to enable students to explore vocational education. These subjects include financial literacy, data science, mass media, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and coding courses. Until now, these courses were only available after class XII, but now they will be introduced in middle and secondary schools as well. This will provide students with early exposure and allow them to specialize before entering college. Additionally, 70% of the course duration will be dedicated to hands-on activities, and internal assessments will be conducted. These courses are both interesting and useful since students can now prepare for their future careers at an early stage.

India and Canada's trade ministers are prepared to review the progress on the free trade agreement and investment promotion, as part of the sixth India-Canada Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment. This discussion will focus on the bilateral trade relationship, investment promotion, and the green transition, including subjects such as critical minerals. The ministers will also review the India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations, which have been ongoing since March 2022. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will also visit Toronto to promote trade and investment and engage with CEOs of key Canadian companies. The Indian Pavilion will also be inaugurated at SIAL CANADA-2023.
